AutismOne Aftermath: A Review of Events
Scientific Blatherings. July 9, 2015
It’s been and gone, another AutismOne conference, another year where more discredited, scientists, doctors and Andrew Wakefield apologists take centre stage to purport their protocols. However this year the pro-science and pro-Autism community did not sit idly by and allow this conference to proceed unimpeded but to no avail. For months parents, scientists, science enthusiasts, campaigners and Autistics all worked tirelessly to raise awareness and prevent one Kerri Rivera from speaking at the conference. Unfortunately we were not successful in denying Ms. Rivera a platform in which she can bellow out nonsense as the Behemoth of the Brigade of Belligerent Bleachers but the entire campaign itself was by no means a failure. For what we lacked in our ability to gag a dangerous quack we gained in media engagement and raising awareness which has only served to rally more people to our cause.
This campaign has been long and hard and is still far from over, given that the AutismOne conference is over I felt it necessary to review the events leading up to and including the conference. This serves as a mean of acknowledging contributions to the campaign from the various individuals, websites and pages who have collectively been instrumental in furthering our cause and weakening that of those who elect to exploit parents of autistic children for financial gain.
Bear in mind that I’m making note of contributions that I’m aware of during the course of campaigning, please do not take offence if you feel there is a significant contribution to the cause I have missed out! By all means, reach out to me and make me aware of contributions I’ve missed and I’ll update the article appropriately.
