Whitewashing the World:
How Their Love For Their Child Is Destroying Our Future
by D. W. Darko
Child abuse. Bigotry. Rape.
Autistic people have brilliant minds. As we grow and learn, we may seem aloof and out of touch with this world, but the place we inhabit is a vibrant wonder we long to share with our loved ones. Some of us are so in sync with our own realities that speaking in this one proves difficult.
These are the children who suffer most.
Night after night, their caregivers take them into a private rooms and instruct them to remove their pants and underwear. Shaking in fear of what is to come, the children comply and then touch their toes, assuming the position they've been trained to take when the enema bag makes its nightly appearance.
The person the child trusts most in the world then inserts a rubber hose into their anus and pumps their bowels full of hot, caustic bleach. It burns and it aches, like fire rolling in their bellies. Tears well in their eyes, and they belch chlorine. They begin to cry, and ask why is this happening to them; why this is necessary.
“Because,” says their caretaker. “You have Autism, and we're going to cure you, so you're just like everyone else.”
Most on the spectrum view our gifts through positive eyes and do not wish to be like everyone else. We are not seeking a cure, because we are not sick. We acknowledge that we are different than the neurotypical population, but we do not view ourselves as disabled or in any way inferior to our more social human brethren. Any suggestion of curing us is offensive; no different than suggesting a person of color should bleach their skin to make their job hunt easier.
We are not broken. We do not need to be fixed.
One Kerri Rivera has made a killing off convincing parents to subject their children to this needless nightly nightmare. She sells worthless supplements, then instructs guardians in how to go about administering these chlorine dioxide enemas. She is available for personal webcam advice sessions for $100 a pop.
This is most unfortunate for the children whose unsuspecting parents do this to them out of combined love and ignorance. In most cases, the child's intestinal lining desiccates in the bleach and sloughs off, passing in the child's stool. Curists are told by Kerri Rivera that this traumatized soft tissue is the remains of a fictional parasite she claims infects human beings and causes Autism.
Autism is genetic, passed down in family lines like brown eyes or eidetic memory. We function well as family units and understand one another with the same ease neurotypical families communicate among one another. This can make for unique challenges when neurotypical families produce Autistic children or vice versa, but the keys to overcoming these challenges are education and acceptance, not attempting to change us when no change is possible; and not inventing gut-dwelling critters who don't even exist in order to make parents feel better about traumatizing, violating, shaming, rejecting, humiliating, poisoning, and injuring their own children on a nightly basis as directed by a money-grubbing false idol from the Internet.
Stand up for those whose words cannot be heard; for those whose screams are ignored by an indifferent local community. Make the torture stop, and help the healing begin.
Say no to “chlorine dioxide treatment” and to Kerri Rivera.
Boycott Autism$peaks and spread the word that the Autistic community stands strong as a vital part of the global collective; one proud of our legacy and the unique perspective we bring in approaching life's many challenges.
None may put blinders on our unique vision to make us see the things they want us to see, nor can they calm our minds without killing our spirits. We are different; unlike everyone. This pleases us. Ours is a depth and a mystery reserved for our kind and our kin, but if neurotypical humanity allows us to live in peace, we can enrich their existence in ways they never thought possible.
If we abandon the Autistic children who experience this travesty, we condemn them to a childhood of growing bitterness, wherein they learn to hate those who hurt them with misguided love in their hearts. They will resent the permanent damage done to them, and suffer from trauma inflicted upon their young minds. They will struggle to trust anyone, and fall into a depression from whence dark thoughts may emerge.
The choice we make here determines if our future is populated by hundreds of young Nikola Teslas and Albert Einsteins, or if we unleash a generation of monsters upon the well-meaning world who hatched them under a blanket of indifferent ignorance.
Your voice can stop this by helping to spread awareness. If you find out someone gives their children bleach enemas, file a complaint with your local child protective services department.
Pass this story on. Tell it at work, or on Ventrillo. Discuss it with your friends. It cannot be allowed to continue.
Together, we can save the future.
These are not pleasant subjects, and we shy away from them because of the visceral reactions mentioning them can evoke. Yet, parents go on traumatizing their own children in the most painful and perverse ways imaginable each day, and our refusal to discuss it allows the abuse to continue when it could be stopped through simple education and awareness.
Though many crises plague our nation's youth, the one I address here is the bane of Autistic children worldwide.
