Healing the Symptoms Known as Autism, an Objective Critique Part 1: Setting the Scene
I had conflicted emotions when I decided to tackle this. A huge 600 page plus tome of pseudo scientific nonsense laced with instantly debunk-able claims and emotional appeals aimed at demonising Autism and those affected by it. I was nervous but also intellectually intrigued and was eagerly awaiting to delve into this publication; however acquiring it had eluded me for so long due to a pay wall I was not willing to climb. Recently, the main author and peddler of the CD protocol for Autism, Kerri Rivera has recently announced that the PDF e-book version of her own personal bible “Healing the Symptoms Known as Autism” is going for free, so that people can see that “this is not abuse”. Well suffice it to say I have begrudgingly accepted her invitation to critique her work in as objective a fashion as I can possibly muster knowing what I am going to encounter. What I found certainly astounded me and terrified the life out of me knowing that somehow so much pseudo science has been allowed to pervade into the realm of “treating” people with Autism.
Without further ado, let’s do this! Opening opening the book I was immediately greeted with the following disclaimer.
It goes without saying that the authors of this fictional piece of work accept no legal responsibility for any damage done should anyone accept their word for what is printed in the succeeding pages. To anyone scientifically literate with a critical thinking cranium will immediately hear the internal alarm bells screaming “BULLSHIT” until your head explodes. Had I been reading this for any hope of deriving some useful information from it I’d have immediately closed it and used it for kindling. But alas I am here to objectively critique the contents of this publication so I shall leave it un-scorched (also it’s a digital copy so the worst I could do really is delete it). See more
