CD Autism - A Dangerous Placebo Effect.
By Lesley A Brodie
So what is a placebo effect?
A placebo is an inert or dummy treatment, designed to have no effect on the subject. It is ofen used for control groups in experiments. People can however, experience improvements both physically and mentally if they believe that the placebo is a treatment. They can experience, remission, changes of behaviour and thinking, altered perception, reduced anxiety, and alterations to brain chemicals and brain state. This is called the placebo effect. The degree of the placebo effect depends on how it is administered. Results very markedly depending on an individuals attitude about the "treatment", confidence about the person administering the substance, and the characteristics of the placebo; for example bigger pills, or a greater number of pills, have a great effect, and placebos which are unpleasant have a greater effect.
We know that people with autism have their brains wired differently. This cannot be changed, so why are many people convinced you can change or " cure " autism?
Hundreds of people worldwide will be drawn to the internet, looking for answers, once their child or loved one is diagnosed with autism. In their search, they'll come across many, treatments and protocols: Mostly unethical deemed unsafe by the FDA. They're given false hope of a " cure " and read many ridiculous notions to what the cause of autism is . Many look no further, because the word " cure " is now fixed in their heads.
They have come across CD Autism and the name kerri Rivera. Read about her claims to have "recovered" 164 children from autism, and they're now sold!
Parents are asked to follow a ATEC scoring systems, because it's this that will indicate their child's is "healed ".
The excitement starts when they receive the book and MMS parcel through the post. Many come gift wrapped to look like beautiful presents.
This, I believe, is where the placebo effect starts. Now with NO professional advice, they start their child on the road to "recovery " ( still something I can't get my head around ). They administer daily doses of chlorine dioxide. The CD baths and soon enemas will follow.Parents are so wrapped up in trying to "heal" their child, that they don't see the real damage they're doing! The endless crying, headbanging, rashes and blisters. All should indicate something isn't right. They DON'T stop. They seek advice from Facebook members and even ask for a consultation with kerri Rivera herself ( which you are charged for) http://cdautism.org/consultation-with-kerri-rivera and http://www.bancdmms.com/#!cd-autism/cv6d. Told to carry on or double does because it's detox! When parents question seeking professional advice ,they're told: "Tell no one."
So why would they carry on administrating something that clearly is hurting their child? Because they believe it will work, they believe what they're told and what they have read. Mostly, because they want this so badly for their child! It is the placebo effect !
